Budapest is a breathtakingly beautiful city that requires more than just one day to reveal you all its beauties. If, however, you can have just one day here and if you make some good planning ahead of that, you can still manage to see a great deal of the city sites. One great advice to follow is to choose the city center area when browsing the Budapest Pictures
This photo of Budapest apartments in Budapest. Most of the landmarks in the city are possible to be reached by walking and there are many pedestrian zones in the center, which make the sightseeing very pleasant. Thus, put on your comfortable shoes and start exploring the city of Budapest, but try to enjoy yourself and not be overwhelmed by your plans. After all, you can come back for a longer stay some other time.

The first thing to start with is to have a good breakfast and coffee in order to have enough strength to cover all the landmarks on your list. Then you can visit the Castle District, where a lot of walking is required. The district is placed on a hill at the Chain Bridge end in Buda region. The entire district is included in the World Heritage Site of UNESCO and presents many beautiful buildings from the medieval and Baroque time. The streets are cobbled-stoned and there are many paths that wind around the hill and make the area even more romantic. Travelers should note that a rather inexpensive and very convenient way is to see the main sites of Budapest by going on a Hop On and Hop Off Bus Tour, which comes with an audio guide, offered in several languages. Now, the sites to be visited in the Castle Hill District include the first permanent bridge of Budapest, the Royal Palace, the National Gallery, the Fisherman’s Bastion with its terrace overlooking the city and the Matthias Church.

The places that should be seen in the center of Pest area, include the Parliament Building which is set by the Danube River banks, the Basilica St. Stephen, the Great Synagogue with the Jewish Museum, as well as the Faculty of Humanities at the Eotvos Lorand University. Among the other great sites are the State Opera House, which is considered among the most beautiful opera houses in the world; the House of Terror, which is a museum from the Nazi time and the Communist era, as well as the Ernst Museum,, which shows contemporary Hungarian art. In case you need some rest, choose the City Park, which is placed in one of the most beautiful districts of Pest. For some shopping one should go to the Fashion Street, where are set some of the famous fashion brands.

In Budapest city are available plenty of nice restaurants and small fast-food shops, as well as a number of good cafes, cozy bars and lively dance clubs. My recommendation would be to try the local cuisine and in case you still have time to go for a dinner at one of the ship restaurants that reveal lovely views towards the river Danube.

Another place that requires attention is the Boathouse Restaurant, which is placed on the Vistula River banks and is thus providing a romantic setting. The restaurant is very close to the center of Warsaw and changes its menu every month, though it usually relies on Mediterranean dishes. This restaurant has a very extensive wine list as well. The place requires reservation, especially during the holidays. Another romantic restaurant is called “Sekret” and it is placed in the cellars of a 16thcentury building in the Old Town Market Square. This restaurant is very discreet and romantic and offers the best of the Polish cuisine.

The restaurant is divided into two levels and is idea for a romantic date. Also in the city center is set the restaurant AleGloria, which tempts with a great design. The meals served here are from the Polish cuisine, but coming with a new image.

Among the other romantic restaurants in Warsaw are Delicja Polska, which has a charming interior and pleasant atmosphere, and it features a nice summer garden. Another option is the restaurant Der Elefant, where one can try seafood meals and great wines. The choice of beer here is diverse as well. A great romantic evening is also possible at the Dom Polski restaurant, placed in an old and beautiful house close to the city center, which features a nice garden. The meals offered are seasonal, while the atmosphere is unique.

Mediterranean Road Trip

The Mediterranean coast is a wonderful place to spend your holiday but some planning is required since there are so many places to visit there. Here you will find a suggested itinerary for a trip along the Mediterranean Coast for a tour made by train or car. It will cover all nice places that have to be seen along the European side of the Mediterranean Coast and will cover the route from Valencia to Cinque Terre. The trip could be done by train as all the suggested cities along the way have central train stations. It can also be done by car, providing the driver is ok with making one’s way through big cities where traffic is often heavy.

The three countries that will be covered during the Mediterranean Road Trip include Spain, France and Italy. Following you will find the Spanish must-see cities as it is Spain from where the voyage will start. The first city on the list is Valencia, which is the third largest settlement in Spain. It has a compact historic centre and has plenty to offer tourists who are keen on sightseeing. The next Spanish city on our Mediterranean Road Trip would be the city of Tarragona, which has many ruins from Roman times set along the seaside. And here we reach the city of Barcelona, which without any surprise is the most favorite port city on the Mediterranean coast. The city is so marvellous, vivid and fun, that a three day stay in an apartment in Barcelona will just not be enough for you to see everything that is in store for you there.

Tarragona Ruins

There are several cities that need to be covered in France and the first one is Narbonne, which is a nice city located on an old Roman road that connected Italy to Spain in the past. On the next stop of our trip you can see the best preserved Cathar Castle in the country and this is in the city of Carcassonne. The next stop would be at Nimes, which has nicely-kept Roman ruins and a lovely historic centre. While here and if you find transport, you can check out the Arles area and try the locally produced wine Mulsum. For the next city on our list you will need two or three days. Avignon, which is also called the city of the Popes is placed in the Provence region and has many historical sites and options for one-day trips available. Another stop on the way, that should not be missed in the town of Arles is its bullfighting ring. There are two more sites to be visited in France and these are the cities of Marseille and Nice, as well as the entire French Riviera.

Cathars

The Mediterranean Road Trip in Italy covers only a few stops and the first one is Genoa, which is an old port city. There you have plenty to see and two days will not be enough. The next stop in Italy is La Spezia, the Gulf of Poets and the Cinque Terre. That area is beautiful and if you avoid the tourists you can have a peaceful time there. The last stop is in Rome, full of landmarks and sites.

Backpacking in Italy near Rome

Backpacking through Italy could be the most incredible and romantic experience of one’s life, but as with everything else, it requires good organisation in advance. Travelling in Italy is always exciting, but when you opt for backpacking with a limited budget, then the excitement will be even bigger. Finding those things that you will need, learning to cope with some small issue and to have fun, getting to know the locals and sharing their food are just some of the ways to get to know the true atmosphere of Italy.

Among the first things to consider when backpacking in Italy, is to go and get a Eurail pass with which you can get most travel at subsidised rates. Another good option is the TrenItalia pass. Whichever rail pass is best for you depends on your travel plans.

Milan Italy

A good starting point for a backpacking trip through Italy is from famous and beautiful Venice, which enchants all visitors. Once there one has to keep an eye on the finds and small places to eat outside the tourist zones. Venice can be quite an expensive city and one needs to be careful. The next stop on the way could be the city of Milan where you might stay in a Milan apartment, mainly for the fabulous Cathedral, which has been recently renovated and which is an absolute must-see landmark. Other places to be checked out here include La Scala Opera House, and the church with the famous painting by Da Vinci ‘The Last Supper’.

Riomaggiore

A good way to sample the true atmosphere of Italy is by visiting the five Cinque Terre villages on the northwestern coast of the country. This is also an ideal place for those who love to climb mountains. The seaside villages that are most appealing are Riomaggiore and Comiglia. They offer cheap accommodation, very beautiful views and fantastic food. Here one could try pesto, fresh seafood with a bottle of local wine.

One that must be seen while backpacking through Italy is Florence. And though the museums fees are quite expensive, there is enough to be seen elsewhere too. Sites that have to be seen here are Piazza Michelangelo and the area around the Duomo.

Piazelle Michelangelo

The final stop of the backpacking trip in Italy could be the city of Rome. It is a great place for budget travellers since almost all of the monuments have free entry. The sites that should be seen here are theTrevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum and Circus Maximus, the Vatican museums with the Sistine Chapel and of course, the Colisseum . They all will be close to you if you rent a Rome apartment for your stay. Other places that are interesting to see are the Piazza Navona with its street performers and the many bars along the Camp di Fiori.

Before starting your backpacking adventure make sure to check the main information about the country, the public transport rules, the public places and the required behaviour. For those who want to stay longer in a certain place, there is always the option of providing a few hours of help in exchange for free room and  board.
